About Us

Doug is the man with a plan and the vision to turn your compact spaces into glorious, functional & fun campers. 

Having worked in the military Doug utilised his practical mindset retraining as a Prosthetist and Orthotist. Like many, the pandemic gave him time to re-evaluate & the motivation to divert his focus & skills to a challenge set by Alex; to convert his tiny car into a camper. Sheila the Agila was developed in 2021, the world's first Vauxhall Agila Camper with double bed, hob and cooler. Post lockdowns, in 2022, Shiela us on the adventure of a lifetime. We travelled 41 countries, in 109 days, crossing 3 continents and racking up 30,000miles, all whilst raising money for 2 charities close to our hearts. Oh, and we accidentally came home with a Moroccan Street Puppy; quite the souvenir. 

On our return and after living in Sheila the Agila for a total of 9 months, requests to build tiny campers for others so they could have their own giant adventures started to trickle in and so the Compact Camper Company was born.

Alex continues to work in the NHS as an Occupational Therapist but shares much of the enthusiasm & passion around making tiny vehicles into epic adventure mobiles to help everyone get out exploring. Often taking on the behind the scenes running of the business, some of the sewing tasks and the interior decor. 

Together, Doug and Alex make up the Compact Camper Company.
